Description of Program:

As one of the strongest programs within the College of Creative Arts, the dance program at WVU balances theory, technique and performance in a fully immersive education experience, with offerings that include a BA in Dance, BFA in Musical Theatre, minor in dance and the WVU Summer Dance Academy.  We develop versatile dancers with the ability to function in a diverse range of careers within the industry.  WVU’s Dance Program is quickly becoming a leader in quality dance education and training within the region and nation. 

*Current dance students attend summer intensives around the country, with companies such as the Paul Taylor Dance Company School in New York City, The Joffrey Ballet, Boulder Jazz Intensive, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, North Carolina Dance Theatre School in Charlotte to name a few.  Students also have dance abroad opportunities and have studied abroad with The ProDanza Italia/USA Workshop in Tuscany, Italy as well as experienced internships with Walt Disney World in Florida and Busch Gardens in Virginia and through our Faculty-led study aboard programs in Guatemala and Israel.

Alumni Connections and Careers

Performing in the field including professional dance companies, NFL cheerleading, opening and operating dance studios and pursuing graduate work. Many students double major with dance and so can pursue work in fields related to those majors as well.
