Special courses in the program include a yearly interdepartmental collaboration, the Choreographers, Composers, and Designers Workshop, and Dance & Technology. Class placement is based on technical level.
Degree-seeking majors currently include 120 undergraduates. The department includes full-time faculty members: Seán Curran, Elizabeth Coker, Giada Ferrone, Richard Move, Jeremy Nelson, Pamela Pietro, Cari Ann Shim Sham, and Andy Teirstein. Guest artists join faculty members each year.
Five fully equipped studios and one theater service the department, with 14 concert series per year and approximately 40 evenings of performances. An audition is required of all applicants.
