The first Tuesday of every month Role Call Prep shares a "monthly call sheet" to help you organize your college admissions applications, questions and concerns.

January: Your Monthly Call Sheet for College Admissions

by Suzanne Jeffrey

Hello and welcome to 2021!

It's the start of a new year and we couldn't be more excited.

There is always a lot to do, but here's what you should be thinking about now...

Seniors

If you are in your Senior year of high-school:

  1. Everything submitted?  For most regular decision applications, the deadline is sometime this month.  For rolling decisions, now is the time to complete your applications.  Generally, if a university has a rolling decision, you will be notified within six weeks.

  2. Concentrate on achieving your best grades they can be.  Even though the universities will only see your “seventh semester” grades, completing your high school with good grades assures the universities that they have made a great decision by admitting you.

  3. Work on those AP and/or IB courses.  If you get good exam grades, chances are you will be able to get credit for those courses.

Juniors

If you are in your Junior year of high-school:

  1. Now is the time to start concentrating on researching colleges and universities.
  2. Start with your state university and then work on the “best” or the most “affordable” or whatever qualities you are looking for in a university.
  3. Along with your research, also think about the type of dance you want to study and where that fits into the eventual program in which you want to participate.

Sophomores

If you are in your Sophomore year of high-school:

  1. Check out our publication on Finding the Right College for YOU!  This will help you with your decision on whether or not you want dance to be your occupation or just a forever activity.
  2. Career Assessment Reviews are valuable.  Download one or more from the internet and try them out!

Freshman

If you are in your Freshman year of high-school:

  1. Learn everything you can about what colleges and universities evaluate.
  2. Do you know what a transcript is?  Or why activities are an important part of your education?  Or what is your GPA?  And how is your GPA calculated by YOUR high school?
  3. It is important to know all of the terminology that goes along with college admissions.

Once again, Happy 2021! We're wishing you a wonderful and successful year.
